“Rooted in Movement, Freed by Dance”

A tribute to how dance connects the Black diaspora to our heritage while making space for radical self-expression, boundary-breaking, and forging nuanced pathways into our futures. DANCEATSPELMAN delves into the profound bond between movement, identity, and freedom, celebrating how Black people have utilized dance as a means of survival, resistance, and artistic expression throughout generations.

Festival participants will be organized into three groups, each overseen by a Spelman student leader, to engage in classes and explore our campus. Participants are expected to remain with their designated groups to ensure safety and maintain capacity during movement courses. Additionally, groups will have opportunities to collaborate and build upon their experiences leading up to the final day of the festival.
